KS2 Lantern Parade11 December 2019 (by admin) |
Event postponed to Monday 16th December
We have considered several weather forecasts and have decided to postpone the event. This is because there is an 80-90% chance of rain tomorrow evening.
The event will now be held next Monday the 16th December, at 5.30pm. We have worked hard to ensure the event will be safe for all. Here are important things everyone will need to know:
- there will be access through one gate only - the main entrance by the car park
- all families are invited to join us, even if they do not have children in KS2
- all children MUST be accompanied by an adult
- all adults who bring children will be responsible for their children throughout the whole event
- families are advised to bring along additional lanterns or torches so that they can light up footpaths
- we suggest that children wear bright clothing so that can be easily seen, reflective clothing would be even better
- some staff will wear bright tabards and act as stewards to help when needed
- we expect the Police to support us, although in an emergency they may be called to other duties
Here is how the event will work:
- we will meet on the school drive from 5.20pm
- we will give out small battery operated tealights to children as they arrive
- the Lantern Parade will start at 5.30pm
- it will be a short walk of about 15 minutes, taking left turns from the school gate and back to school
- on return to school we will congregate in the main playground (this will be floodlit)
- there will be access to Y2 toilets, from the main playground
- there will be refreshments and a first aid station, under the covered are next to Y1
- the wooden shelter will be decorated with lighting - this will be the "stage"
- children will sing a range of carols (and hope you join in)
- we hope to finish by 6.30pm
Events like this are about building memories. We hope you will join us.
